Resources That (Not to Be Dramatic) Radically Changed My Life
Not Me Becoming My Highest Self Because of a Podcast
We are so back!!! God I missed this place.
Is it just me, or is everyone and their mother suddenly on Substack? A part of me kind of loved when it was super niche, but alas… we all deserve to have our Carrie Bradshaw moment!
Welcome back to Healing Forward. If you’re new here, this is my little pocket of the internet where I share insights, resources, and stories that have guided me on my path towards healing forward.
It’s been a minute since I’ve written here. Over the past few months, I’ve been deep in all things Alec’s Ice Cream, as we’ve launched a brand new product line (hello Culture Cup!!) and flavor collab (can you guess the flavor?!). As exciting as it’s been (truly, the response has been even better than we could’ve hoped), it’s also stretched me in every direction. Being part of a hyper-growth startup is kind of like being on a treadmill that’s slightly too fast and slightly too steep, but somehow you’re managing to be in flow with it? It’s a ride.
There are no departments, no “circling back,” no one to pass the baton to. If you want something to happen, you have to make it happen. There’s no hiding, no coasting, you show up, or it doesn’t move. Coming from a corporate background, this was a huge adjustment for me. And while stepping into this level of ownership was uncomfortable at first, it’s become incredibly empowering. It’s taught me to trust my vision, act on my instincts, and take up space in a way I never had to before.
And when life is life-ing that hard, I tend to go inward. I double down on the things that keep me grounded: home-cooked meals, consistent movement, prioritizing sleep, therapy, breathwork, being outside in nature, etc. And as much as I love creating content for Healing Forward, I also never want to post just to post. If I’m not in integrity with what I’m sharing, I’d rather wait.
That energy has also carried over into how I’m growing the business of Healing Forward. I have a few absolutely amazing clients right now, and it’s been the most special, affirming feeling to work with such aligned people. A lil woo comin your way, but I fully believe I manifested them. I feel so deeply connected to the people I’m calling in, and if you’re here reading this, that might include you.
Even if you’re not in a season where coaching feels aligned, if my work resonates with you, I’d love to hear from you. Truly. It helps me refine the message, deepen the impact, and continue building a community rooted in intention and authenticity.
All of this to say: THANK YOU for being here. I love this small but mighty community we’re creating, as we collectively embark on the lifelong process of healing forward.
And now… onto the fun part.
These are the resources I’ve discovered (and rediscovered) that *not to be dramatic* have radically changed my life. Not in a “here’s a $200 serum and a side of toxic positivity” kind of way, but in a “this pulled me out of a shame spiral and reminded me who I am” kind of way.
These are the books, apps, podcasts, and practices I come back to again and again. The tools that cracked something open in me. That made healing feel a little more tangible, a little less lonely, and dare I say… a little more fun.
Let’s get into it.

Books
📖 You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay
This book had been sitting on my shelf forever and I finally re-read it recently. It was like receiving a cosmic slap and a warm hug at the same time. Louise’s message is clear: our thoughts shape our reality, and self-love is the foundation of healing. This book is a gentle but powerful reminder that emotional repression often manifests physically. If you’re stuck in a loop of chronic symptoms or low-key self-loathing, this one is for you.
📖 The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron
Not reading it just because Doechii said so (although queen behavior). This 12-week journey cracked open a version of myself that had been buried under hyperactive, overthinking, productivity culture. Morning pages, artist dates, reclaiming your inner child, this shit is POWERFUL. It’s less about being an artist and more about unblocking the channel between you and your authentic self.
Apps
📱 The Way App by Henry Shukman
This one’s for the meditation skeptics. The ones who’ve tried to “sit still” and somehow ended up more anxious than when they started (hi, it’s me). I’ve dabbled in a lot of meditation styles over the years, but what drew me to The Way was that it doesn’t just tell you to meditate, it teaches you how to meditate. Through four beautifully designed zones: Mindfulness, Support, Flow, and Awakening, it guides you into deeper states of presence without feeling like a chore or a spiritual test.
Of course, meditation is deeply personal, so your mileage may vary. But if you’re craving a structured process, guidance, or a deeper why behind your practice, this is a great place to start.
🧠 To Be Magnetic with Lacy Phillips
TBM is my religion!!!! Jk jk (kind of). TBM is part manifestation, part subconscious reprogramming, part nervous system attunement. In the app Lacy teaches you to identify limiting beliefs and expand your self-worth so you can call in what actually aligns with you.
What I love most is that it’s not fluffy, it’s work. The Deep Imagining tools, workshops, and the community space make this feel more like a mentorship than an app. This app and her podcast have been truly life changing for me, and definitely the most substantive, impactful, honest resource for all things manifestation.
💫 Align: The Human Design App by Jenna Zoe
Discovering that I’m a Generator explained so much: why I light up around certain work and completely shut down when I try to force things. This app is perfect for anyone who’s ever felt like their wiring doesn’t match the world around them. It’s like an energetic user manual.
I use it to check in on how I’m meant to engage with opportunities, manage my energy, and make aligned decisions. Even if you’re only mildly astrology-curious, I think you’ll love this one. Human Design is all about peeling the onion layers and giving yourself permission to be exactly who you are.
Podcasts
🎙 Move With Heart: Living Intentionally with Ellen Vora
This episode covers so much: discerning between real vs. perceived anxiety, the shame around spirituality, our nervous system’s addiction to chaos. Ellen’s take on how society conditions us to live dysregulated (and then shames us for it) is Healing Forward gold.
🎙Diary of a CEO: The Secret to Living Without Fear & Anxiety Forever with Dr. Joe Dispenza
Big theme here: most health issues are rooted in emotional and psychological stress. Joe breaks down how our thoughts literally create our biology.
🎙 Well with Arielle Lorre: Daily Microhabits to Overcome Fear with Dr. Margie Warrell
In this episode, they explore the danger of comfort, the power of micro-habits, and how to reframe fear as fuel. If you’re in a season of transition or ready to leave a job/relationship that no longer serves you, start here.
🎙 The School of Greatness: Manifest Anything with David Ghiyam
Can I just say I love David Ghiyam and Lewis Howes?! I love both of their personal stories and podcasts. In this episode they talk about how our ability to receive abundance is directly linked to our internal landscape. David breaks down what it means to expand your “spiritual vessel” and how aligning with universal spiritual laws can radically shift your external reality.
TLDR: your outer world is a reflection of your inner world. And when you change your consciousness, you change everything. It’s a must-listen if you’re ready to call in more with intention (not hustle).
If any of this spoke to you, I’d love to hear what resonated. And if you have resources of your own, please send them my way.
Healing isn’t something we do in isolation, it happens in reflection, in community, in those quiet moments when someone else puts words to something we’ve only felt.
Thank you for being here, until next time!!
Xoxo,
Allie
